the hills visit oregon - day six

dave and i both had to work today. my sister and her family had a fun day at pittock mansion, the portland chinese classical garden and russell street bar-b-que. we met up with them for a trip to kenton park, where the kids played in the water park and on the playground.

the hills visit oregon - day five part one

we drove the big loop around mt. hood today, including stops at vista house, multnomah falls, bonneville dam and fish hatchery, the full sail brewing company pub in hood river, and timberline lodge. then dave met up with us for dinner at pizza fino in kenton. the first two photos are from vista house, the last three are from timberline.

field day!

candise organized an awesome field day at kenton park on a perfect portland summer day. it was so much fun, and the injuries sustained were minimal (pretty good, considering none of us had done these things since elementary school). later in the evening, we went to the play/start show at the e-room, which, as usual, rocked!

ch-ch-ch-changes redux

so, things are a-changin' 'round here...again! the studio where i teach yoga is closing its doors at the kenton location and temporarily relocating to the owner's house. we are hopeful that a new and improved prananda yoga and arts center will rise from the ashes like a phoenix in (at the latest) september. in the interim, i will be teaching a donation-only weekly class out of my house for my peeps who have been hard-hit by this crummy economy. and maybe some other free/almost free classes to keep up my skills.

all this change has me thinking back to that new year's intention i set back at the year's turn. i'm trying to remember to keep this little heart open to what the universe brings...

are you?

thanksgiving 2008 part 2: fun!

our house was full of amazing, sweet people and much silliness. we took a walk around the 'hood, then played mad libs and a very creative game of celebrity.

yoga and family times

my parents and grandfather arrived today, but i was in class until this evening. we just had dinner at the local pizza/pasta place, and then they were off to their hotel to get some much-needed sleep. i feel a little like my head's been spinning lately, so i'm really looking forward to some chill time with the folks this week.

this is prananda, the studio where i'm training to become a yoga instructor. joy wolfe, who owns the studio and runs the program is my current hero. today, we did a three-hour workshop on the 2nd and 3rd chakras, mainly core and abdominal work. one of the things we worked on today was this.

oh, and what the heck are these flowers doing blooming in october?

autumn is here

our trees are telling us it's autumn...

we took two walks today - the 5k AIDS walk downtown and one around our neighborhood - with dim sum in chinatown in between. then we had a yummy dinner at chris's new place out in beaverton. i have the day off tomorrow for columbus day, which is a bullshit holiday but i'll still not go to work.
