weekword: hole

linda sue chose the weekword for this week, and i knew exactly what i wanted to show the world!

ms. leila, my sweet sweet pup, has been working on digging a special place under the house. after she's been working, she comes back into the house all proud and tail-wagging giddiness at a job well done.

we commissioned a fantastic portland artist, nicole georges, to paint the box containing our dear pedro's ashes. it is really beautiful, don't you think?

the hills visit oregon - day two, part one

my sister, her husband and their two boys, bryce (5) and charlie (3), visited oregon for the first time this week. we drove out to rockaway beach for the first two nights and stayed in a cute little beach house called the seagull's nest. early sunday morning, we took leila out for a chilly and foggy romp on the beach.

to the beach! to the beach!

wanted to post a couple of old outtakes of ms. leila before we head out to the airport to pick up my sis and her family for a weekend at rockaway beach followed by a whirlwind tour of the portland sites. happy weekend to all!

(this is the face leila would make if she only knew she was getting to spend the whole weekend at the beach with kids!)

washougal river and the three pupskateers

i spent the hot afternoon with some friends by the washougal river in washington. we are dogsitting julio and rusty this weekend, but they didn't get to go because it's like herding cats to get these three to do ANYTHING other than facilitate chaos! they look so innocent and sweet in this photo, though, don't they?

field day!

candise organized an awesome field day at kenton park on a perfect portland summer day. it was so much fun, and the injuries sustained were minimal (pretty good, considering none of us had done these things since elementary school). later in the evening, we went to the play/start show at the e-room, which, as usual, rocked!

lodgers

ryan and his giant suki arrived early early this morning from their cross country drive. they'll be staying with us a while as they get settled out here in the PNW. not a great shot today, but wanted to show you how much of a sweet giant (100 lbs) bear suki is! she, leila and the kitties are getting along grand so far.

march sunshine and crafts time

the first pic is my first foray into making shrinky-dink pendants - it was for a graduation award for sherri. i graduated from the prananda teacher training on 3/28, and the busyness before and after is part of the reason i took a little vaycay from the blogosphere. the graduation was beautiful and touching, and i really miss spending my saturdays with such an amazing group of people. still tear up a little every time i think about it!

the rest of the photos are from a sunny march day. there were several sunny days in late march, and the cats (vyvyan the tortoise shell & henry the big boy) liked sitting in the sunny spots around the house. as did dave.
