weekword: hole

linda sue chose the weekword for this week, and i knew exactly what i wanted to show the world!

ms. leila, my sweet sweet pup, has been working on digging a special place under the house. after she's been working, she comes back into the house all proud and tail-wagging giddiness at a job well done.

garden bounty

our garden has started putting out more than just the arugula, thyme and fennel we've been eating for a while now. i just had to take a photo of this lovely group.

the hills visit oregon - day seven

after dutch tacos from flavour spot, we drove up to mount st. helens. somehow, i forgot i even brought my camera and didn't get any pictures on this gorgeous day. luckily, the boys were up for a mini-photoshoot before we left and were showing off their best goofy faces. we ended the day with a yummy dinner at iron horse restaurant.

the hills leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow, and we're sad to see them go! we had such a great time with everybody, and hope they come back for a visit soon!

lodgers

ryan and his giant suki arrived early early this morning from their cross country drive. they'll be staying with us a while as they get settled out here in the PNW. not a great shot today, but wanted to show you how much of a sweet giant (100 lbs) bear suki is! she, leila and the kitties are getting along grand so far.

march sunshine and crafts time

the first pic is my first foray into making shrinky-dink pendants - it was for a graduation award for sherri. i graduated from the prananda teacher training on 3/28, and the busyness before and after is part of the reason i took a little vaycay from the blogosphere. the graduation was beautiful and touching, and i really miss spending my saturdays with such an amazing group of people. still tear up a little every time i think about it!

the rest of the photos are from a sunny march day. there were several sunny days in late march, and the cats (vyvyan the tortoise shell & henry the big boy) liked sitting in the sunny spots around the house. as did dave.

ninja beagle

on more than one occasion, the weasel has referred to leila as 'ninja beagle' because of her stealthy, sneaky antics. living up to this moniker can be challenging for leila at times, but when i found this under the bed (her favorite spot), i knew the n.b. had struck again.

walt, LT, and maley

who are you, and why did you write on the manroom walls?

(day two of being homebound with a bad cold. we're starting to drive each other a little nuts.)

bookout beach 2009

friday night, we had a tropical-themed party, including a uke jam, turning the heat way up, and wearing beachy gear. unfortunately, my bartender duties didn't allow me to take many pictures, but a few were gems.

passion on ice

i'm pretty sure if my passionflower vine were capable of thought, it would be thinking, "wtf?"

we're off to indiana for the next 12 days, so blog entries may be even spottier than usual. rest assured, i will post many, many photos upon my return.

apples to (frozen) apples

neither of us went into work today. we pretty much just lazed around, until we trudged in the snow over to leslie and bryn's for a superyummy spaghetti dinner and a couple of rousing rounds of apples to apples. before leaving, i took a few photos of the weird ice formations that are eating the flora around our house while dave helped the neighbor dig his car out of the snow. the cat is jackson, bryn's vampire feline.

another snow day

more snow yesterday. just so that those of you not in the northwest get an idea, i'm posting a photo of the snow piled on top of our trash/recycle bins. we as portlanders are neither accustomed to nor prepared for this. i just hope it clears up enough so that our flight to indiana can leave on christmas!

snowy portland and handmade bazaar

it is cold and snowy in portland. we decided to take the max downtown anyway (which was an adventure in itself) and check out handmade bazaar. only about half of the vendors showed up, but there were some great artsy items for sale. we bought several things, including an awesome silkscreen print (dave's christmas present). we had dinner at the new sit-down restaurant incarnation of eddie's flat iron pizza. then we bussed it over to lorenzo and sarah's. unfortunately, the 75 was very delayed, so we ended up walking most of the way home, about two miles in 23 degrees and up to 38 mph wind gusts. good thing we had our longjohns on! it was actually a very fun (albeit cold) day.

i wish i had taken more outside photos, but my fingers were pretty much frozen. i did get a couple of shots of the snowy spiderwebs on our kitchen windows, and another cute shot of lisa k (she's so photogenic!). the last two are of handmade bazaar artists whom we patronized.

full moon friday

it really was a full moon, the most striking evidence was that i was supermotivated to clean the house. the cats were no help, but they did provide some entertainment.

they were pretty psyched about the laundry right out of the dryer.

about ten minutes later, henry had decided he needed to lie right on top of vyvyan. she appeared somewhat disgruntled, but too lazy/sleepy to move.

tonight, we celebrated cait's 30th birthday at her house, but i forgot my camera. happy birthday, cait!

two windows

my two favorite windows in the house are also probably the two through which we lose the most heat.

maybe you can see why i am so fond of them?
