happy birthday, sleepy owl!

for lisa k's bday, we went out to vegetarian house for some yummy veggie chinese food and then walked over to ground kontrol for some video game (and pinball) action. it was a blast!

hunka hunka burnin' beltane

after a productive day of yardwork, we took ryan to st. johns, where we had an excellent dinner at proper eats (and where we ended up in an impromptu hang out sesh with candise and megh, renee, kathy and aura). for dessert, we had some rockin' gelato at legong on the next block.

later in the evening, we trekked over to bryan's housewarming bonfire (he moved into the cottage behind joy's house). joy kept the bonfire raging with creative fuel, including compost, a hammock, barrels, plywood, and peeps (the candy, not friends). i ended the night with a couple of pics in her artsy bathroom.

lodgers

ryan and his giant suki arrived early early this morning from their cross country drive. they'll be staying with us a while as they get settled out here in the PNW. not a great shot today, but wanted to show you how much of a sweet giant (100 lbs) bear suki is! she, leila and the kitties are getting along grand so far.

leslie's birthday potluck

last night, we celebrated leslie's birthday with a small group of friends. it was a time of much laughter and cuddling charlie the poodle. i didn't get pictures of everybody because i was so distracted by the merriment. i'm so glad leslie was born - we've been bffs for 15 years now!

100th post!

the last few weeks have been crazy/great/nuts/busy/fun/etc. i graduated from yoga school and started teaching at prananda (portlanders! come to my tuesday 7:35 p.m. basics class). adjusting to not spending my saturdays with 9 amazing people at the studio has been tough. i didn't realize how hard the shift was going to be. on the health front, i figured out what food sensitivity was making me so sick (garlic) and that i had a vitamin deficiency that was wrecking my immune system. i got the garden started (with the weasel's help), worked in the yard, went to some shows (including play/start and northern swords), ate breakfast, and taught yoga to some pregnant and parenting teens.

anyhoo, i'm back to the blog and to carrying my D40 around to document my little moment in my little corner of the world.

yurting at cape lookout

tara, derek and i met julie and bryce at cape lookout state park for a weekend of yurt and beach fun. dave was unable to go because he had the flu :(

tara recently found her giant box of my little ponies, and decided to bring one representing each attendant at the coast. we each discovered our own my little pony name (kind of like a vision quest, we think, without the peyote). mine was cloud shadow, derek's was star dancer. those are the ones i can repeat on the blog.

the skunk cabbage and trillium were in bloom, the sun was out, and the weather was lovely (albeit a little chilly).

march sunshine and crafts time

the first pic is my first foray into making shrinky-dink pendants - it was for a graduation award for sherri. i graduated from the prananda teacher training on 3/28, and the busyness before and after is part of the reason i took a little vaycay from the blogosphere. the graduation was beautiful and touching, and i really miss spending my saturdays with such an amazing group of people. still tear up a little every time i think about it!

the rest of the photos are from a sunny march day. there were several sunny days in late march, and the cats (vyvyan the tortoise shell & henry the big boy) liked sitting in the sunny spots around the house. as did dave.
