new glasses, prequel
i lost my glasses at the indianapolis airport, so i had to go get a new eye exam today. i had forgotten how debilitating it is to have my eyes dilated. at least i got a photo out of it.

new year's intention
i don't recall that i've really ever made new year's resolutions before. i did set an intention this year, a path i started on with my decision to pursue yoga teaching last fall. i debated whether to blog about it, and ultimately decided i would because that very action fulfills the intention.
over the past couple of years, what with work stress and whatnot, i've found myself closing off even more to that which causes me anxiety or of which i'm just plain scared. looking back, i am not pleased with that trend, but acknowledge that it was probably an adaptive behavior at some point.
so, from here on out, i intend to keep my heart open.
for me, this phrase comprises a wide range of activities/states of being. it includes increasing my compassion for others as well as myself, going places that scare me, doing more yoga, participating in - including as audience - more art/music/performance*, inviting people over to my house more (even when it's messy!), being fully present and positive at work, attending more to my self-care, etc. etc. etc.
so, yeah. i'm not resolving to lose 20 lbs or get sixpack abs or declutter my garage. i'm just intending to open up and live this little life more fully.
*inspired by lisa k. thanks!
