i write up that whole post about how lucky i am, and then poof! i get reminded again!
erin rose f. over at what's written on my body is such an amazing inspiration to me every time i interact with her. read thursday's blog entry here, which is so eloquent and brave, culminating in her final paragraph:
"Today it's not so different. I still feel scared, and I still negotiate. On some days I feel like my body is comprised of an intricate series of wounds, all bound together in a web of hurt and disappointment. And those are the days when I wear the shortest skirts. "

luckiest person in the world
one of our assigments for yoga school this week was to do something nice for ourselves. i decided to allow myself to get overwhelmed with the love in my life.
i get overwhelmed with my good fortune in the amazing people i have the privilege to know in this lifetime. some of them make it into my blog in photos and comments, some just inspire me to quietly shine in admiration whenever i am around them. if i truly only am as good as the company i keep, then i must be pretty fucking awesome.
for example, in less than one week, i have/will have experienced (in no particular order):

for example, in less than one week, i have/will have experienced (in no particular order):
- feeling the precious support of my colleagues
- learning life lessons from my patients
- having a plain old good phone conversation with my mom and hearing my dad in the background talking about my blog
- exchanging giggles with my sister on facebook
- connecting with old and dear friends on a quick overnight trip up north
- attending a beautiful party celebrating nine years of friend-marriage for nate and nicole
- dancing at the seriously rockin' show by PLAY/START
- cracking up on the phone with the "long arm of the law"
- getting all crushed-out at the artist reception for an amazingly talented lorenzo
- starting the day off right with breakfast club
- learning more than what's on the syllabus from joy and my fellow teacher trainees
- basking in the rulerstry of a brunch with the oft conscious-altering feminist club
- reading blog posts by some of my favorite people all over the world, as i watch their children grow, see glimpses of the world through their eyes, and get inspired by what they write
- reflecting on having met the most amazing person ever ten years ago this week.

guys are kind of weird sometimes
superbowl party
the real reason jkj and nthn had a superbowl party this year is because jkj's sister is an arizona cardinals cheerleader. unfortunately, 1) they didn't show the cheerleaders at all (someone said it was because the steelers don't have cheerleaders) and 2) the cards lost. the game was a good one, though, and really fun to watch.
highlights in photos included julie's brand-spankin' new haircut (so cute!), nthn waxing poetic about his art, julie taking up the concertina, and bryce's new, hard-earned belt buckle (it opens beer bottles!).

la casa de brutzman-joyce
after a yummy breakfast club at bread and ink, we drove up for a quick overnight trip to seattle sunday, ostensibly to attend a superbowl party, but really to see jkj and nthn. as well as julie and bryce. the felines bella and margaret were entertaining as always, and there were lots of good photo finds all around the apartment, including an awesome view and cute kitchen lights.
